Eradicoat is a fast acting IPM compatible pesticide made from a combination of natural plant extracts. Eradicoat has a physical mode of action, blocking the spiracles of the pest leading to suffocation. Eradicoat controls a broad range of pests. Independent trials have shown it to be as effective as a number of conventional pesticides. Spider mite: Eradicoat fulfils the needs for a reliable and IPM compatible acaricide. Eradicoat controls all active stages of spider mite. Its fast mode of action allows the product to be used against toxic spider mite. There are no residual effects that can upset biological control programs. Thrips: Eradicoat controls all active stages. Leaf counts can give up to 90% reduction in numbers. Application is critical. Whitefly: Eradicoat controls whitefly adults (on a par with fatty acids), plus eggs, larvae and pupae. When Encarsia is present apply through the heads of the crop. Aphids: Eradicoat can be used in an IPM program to control hot-spots of aphids. Two applications will be needed. Other pests: Eradicoat also controls, leafminer adults, mealy bug, leafhopper, and scale insects. Application is critical: Like all contact pesticides application is key. It is vital to get the spray onto the undersides of the leaves - if you don’t hit the pest you don’t kill it. See label for recommendations.Zero day harvest interval Eradicoat has a zero day harvest interval so picking can continue after application. Eradicoat and IPM Eradicoat can be used in an existing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program. Because Eradicoat has contact action, it can have adverse effects on beneficials hit. However, Eradicoat is best used to correct imbalances between the pest and the beneficial, either as a hot-spot or band treatment, e.g. just through the heads of the crop, or as a knockdown treatment before beneficials are introduced. Once dried, it has no residual effects so they can be safely reintroduced into the area. Due to its mode of action Eradicoat resistance is unlikely to develop therefore it could be used to aid in resistance management. Trials are currently underway looking at tank mixes with other products to this end. Eradicoat has no recorded phytotoxic effects on plants. Trials during 2001 have shown it to be completely safe to a range of crops including tomatoes and cucumbers, ornamentals and herbs. Eradicoat is safe for use in organic agriculture and has been cleared for use in organic crops in the UK. Eradicoat won the HTA ‘Product of the year’ award in 2001. Eradicoat is available in a liquid formulation in 5 litres. Key features and benefits of Eradicoat Highly effective against hot-spots of spider mite, thrips, whitefly and aphids.
