Introduction Rates Rate of introduction will depend greatly on type of crop and level of spider. As a guide introduce 1 tub (250 cocoons) per hot spot of spider for 4 weeks or for more widespread outbreaks, 10 tubs (2500 cocoons) per hectare for 4 introductions. Conditions FELSURE (a) establishes and performs best when relative humidities are above 70%. In order to establish it is important there is a sufficient food source at the time of introduction. Technical Information Feltiella acarisuga (formally Therodiplosis) is a naturally occurring midge. The larval stages prey on all stages of spider mites. The adult is capable of locating patches of spider mite throughout a crop from a single release site. The larvae are a creamy brown yellow colour growing to 1.9mm. Pupae are formed inside a white cocoon which is spun onto a leaf often on the lower surface near to a vein.
