Encsure (f): Directions for use

Contains
Encarsia formosa as parasitized whitefly pupae Unit: 1000 loose pupae in 5ml tube or 5000 loose pupae in 30ml tube.

Target Pest
Glasshouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) and tobacco whitefly (Bemisia tabaci).

Instructions
Distribution of ENCSURE (f) is via Pot and Hanger system with dispenser.

Clip hanger to pot and insert filter paper.

Distribute pots evenly through glasshouse in accessible shady sites, avoiding dripping gutters.

»

During winter months, hang closer to heating pipes to increase Encarsia activity.

Dispensing ENCSURE (f)

 » 

Remove cap from tube when in glasshouse and turn horizontal so pupae fall to side of tube.

Screw dispenser cap into position ensuring dispenser just touches base of tube.

Turn tube vertically and gently shake tube to position pupae ready for delivery.

Dispense pupae into release site by tipping tube with cut face uppermost for delivery of approximately 100 pupae.

Keep dispenser tubes in the glasshouse to avoid temperature fluctuations and condensation.  

Introduction Rates
For best results introduce preventatively on a weekly basis. Minimum rate 0.5 per m2 per week.

Conditions
18°C average temperature each 24 hour period.

Storage
» Do not expose to direct sunlight.
» Preferably use on day of receipt or within 2 days if stored in darkness at 6 -10°C.

Technical Information
The adult parasitic wasp emerges from the pupae via a small exit hole. The female has a black head and yellow abdomen. Eggs are laid into the 3rd and 4th larval stage of the whitefly. Development occurs inside the host and after 2-3 weeks pupae of glasshouse whitefly turn black and tobacco whitefly brown.  Some host feeding occurs.
