Introduction Rates Should be considered as complimentary to Aphidius and Aphidoletes and used to treat outbreaks where rapid control of large aphid numbers is required. Introduce 10 per m2 weekly in infested areas until under control. Higher rates may be necessary for larger infestations. Conditions No special conditions required. Storage » Preferably use on day of receipt or within 1-2 days if stored in darkness at 10-15°C. Technical Information Only the larvae are voracious predators of aphids and other insects, the adults feed on pollen, nectar, honeydew, etc. The larvae are grey-brown with prominent mouthparts. They consume 20-50 aphids a day, and once established will quickly reduce aphid populations. Larvae are also cannibalistic and feed on lacewing eggs and other larvae if food is short. It takes between 12-21 days for the larvae to reach the pupal stage. They pupate in silken cocoons, usually on the underside of leaves or in crevices in bark. Adults are green in colour and because they can fly they may leave the crop, making no contribution to further control.
