Introduction Rates Introduce at the first signs of aphids. Apply to aphid hotspots at 0.5-2 per m2 weekly for two weeks. Conditions No special conditions. Storage » Preferably use on day of receipt or with 1-2 days if stored in the dark at 8-10°C. Technical Information Adults are about 3mm long with short legs and short antennae. The female has a black thorax, yellow abdomen. Males are slightly smaller with a darker abdomen. Adult females lay eggs in aphids and the larva develops inside. Parastised aphids eventually turn into a black coloured mummy and the adult parasite emerges about 7-14 days later. Aphelinus adults feed on aphids and this host feeding also helps reduce aphid numbers. Aphelinus does not often fly and tends to walk over crops to find aphids. It has long lasting but slow activity and should be introduced at the first signs of aphid. For quicker control it is better to use Aphidius ervi or Aphidoletes.
